The Matthew Garrison app (“App”) is a music and artist app that provides access to content, optional subscriptions, lesson booking, and related features. This privacy policy describes how we collect, use, and protect information in connection with the App.

1. Information We Collect

Account information. If you create an account or sign in, we collect the information you provide (such as username, email, and password). Account and session data are stored and processed via our backend to provide sign-in and access control.
Subscription and purchase data. Subscription and in-app purchase transactions are processed by Apple. We receive information necessary to provide access (e.g. subscription status) via Apple and our subscription provider (RevenueCat). We do not store or process your payment card details.
Push notifications (opt-in). Push alerts are off by default. If you are signed in and choose to enable them, we store your push preference and a device token (via Apple Push Notification service) so we can send alerts about new music, live streams, performances, and app updates. You can turn push off anytime in Account → Notifications & Email and in your device’s system notification settings.
Email updates (opt-in). Marketing and update emails are off by default. If you are signed in and opt in, we use your account email to send news and release announcements. You can turn this off anytime in Account → Notifications & Email.
Communication preferences. When you are signed in, your push and email choices are saved to your account so they sync across devices.
Usage analytics (first-party). To improve the App, we collect anonymous usage events (e.g. app sessions, which content is played or browsed). These events do not include your name, email, or username. We do not use third-party advertising or cross-app tracking SDKs for this.
Device and usage data. We may collect device type, app version, and similar technical information necessary to operate the App, deliver notifications when opted in, and prevent abuse. If you use video chat or recording features, the App may use your device’s camera and microphone only when you grant permission and only for those features.
Support and communications. If you contact us for support, we use the contact details and messages you provide to respond and to improve our service.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

Provide, maintain, and improve the App and its features (including content, subscriptions, and lesson booking).
Authenticate you and manage your account and preferences.
Process and fulfill subscriptions and in-app purchases and to provide access to purchased content or features.
Send push notifications and emails only when you have opted in.
Understand how the App is used (via anonymous usage analytics) so we can improve content and features.
Enable features that you choose to use (e.g. video chat, recording) when you grant the required permissions.
Respond to your requests and support inquiries.
Comply with applicable law and enforce our terms.

We do not sell your personal information to third parties. We may share information with service providers (e.g. cloud hosting, subscription management, email delivery, push notification delivery) only as needed to operate the App and under appropriate agreements.

3. Data Storage and Security

Account, preferences, and session data are stored on our backend infrastructure. We use industry-standard measures to protect data in transit and at rest.
Some data (e.g. preferences, cached content) may be stored on your device. You can clear app data or delete the App to remove local data.
Payment and subscription details are handled by Apple and our subscription provider; we do not store full payment card information.
When you delete your account, we remove your account record and associated synced data from our servers.

4. Your Choices and Rights

Account: Permanently delete your account in Settings → Subscription → Delete Account (in the App). Deletion removes your login and synced preferences from our servers; cancel any active Apple subscription separately in Apple ID subscription settings.
Push notifications: Off by default. Enable or disable in Account → Notifications & Email while signed in, or in your device’s system Settings.
Email updates: Off by default. Enable or disable in Account → Notifications & Email while signed in.
Camera and microphone: Disable in device settings; video chat and recording features may then be unavailable.
Subscriptions: Cancel through your Apple ID subscription settings.
Privacy policy: This page or Settings → Legal → Privacy Policy in the App.
Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or port your data or to object to certain processing. Contact us using the details below.

5. Children’s Privacy

The App is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have collected such information, please contact us so we can delete it.

6. Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. We will post the current version in the App (Settings → Legal → Privacy Policy) and on this page, and may update the “Last updated” date. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
